Stay Report - 12/13 to 12/14
Location: The hotel is located about as close to LAX as you can get which makes the terminal walkable. That's a good thing these days as the delays getting in and out are still horrendous. Also do note that hotel shuttles now pick up on the departure level not the arrival one. I was also able to walk to pick up my Avis rental the next day and it was a pleasant one mile stroll.
Hotel: The hotel has a nice lobby with a bar that stays open until 12 and a decent sized market which sells a lot of to go items. The second floor has a business center (key card activated) and a lot of meeting space. I didn't deal with any waits for elevators. The hotel is right next to a huge parking garage and in fact shares its shuttle with them.
Check In: Chaotic. This a popular airline crew hotel and there were a number at the desks when I arrived. The elite line wasn't policed so I ended up waiting 10 minutes to check in. Not what you want at 1 AM eastern time
Room: I was "upgraded" from a one queen to a one king city view. The room was pretty disappointing. There were coffee stains on the walls and more unidentified stains on the furniture. The Wifi was unusable. I was trying to work out of the room at 6 AM and I kept getting dropped. The bathroom was also on the small side. On the better side the bed was comfortable and there was power next to it.
Breakfast: Breakfast was a sad buffet with scrambled eggs, chicken sausage (inedible), bacon (decent) and potatoes plus fruit, yogurt, cereal etc. Shockingly they charge $39 for it.
Overall I wasn't really thrilled. The lack of Globalist recognition was unfortunate and the rooms need renovation. I think I'll stay at the Marriott next time.
