Having a proper lifetime status program like the carriers outside Japan would make a lot of sense so if it's interesting, I may choose to still go with them. I just hope they get more info out soon so I can properly plan my travel next year but they said end of 2023...
I'm also thinking about Iberia and SAS.
2023 is business as usual for JAL, so maybe the time to jump in.

While qualifying for Star Alliance Gold with SAS is quite easy to maintain, the lifetime status requires 10 consecutive years of status which is pretty steep.
