The gutting began in 2019. That's the last thing I heard from an Admirals Club agent back in May 2022. She hadn't heard much and even thought nothing was happening, despite there being a banner in the A-West concourse earlier this year saying it was 'coming soon'. That leads me to believe some work did begin and was far enough along that they felt they could start promoting it. Until they didn't.....
Aside from the 7 daily AA TA flights in off season plus BA and QR, there are still passengers eligible for the FL who may be flying AA to ORD, MIA, DFW, LAX to connect to a Flagship flight. Clearly they felt in 2019 that the demand was there. I haven't gone back to think about what the O&D OW premium class market looks like today vs 2019 though.
