For life status, only international flights count for miles. Domestic you can go by segments as well, but I'll never reach that.
It will require a bit of focus on carrier choice, and a lot of business trips. And no redemptions for private trips. But should be possible.

You actually hit on one of the only downsides of this program: you really can't leverage trip redemptions with miles, or else you just make it harder to hit that next level
