However, I would not choose Positano as a base.
There are seriously knowledgeable people on here who could better advise you but I think they’d agree that, unless you’re visiting family there, it’s not the best base point. For the itinerary you appear to be seeking you need the best transport links. Also, IMHO, you will exhaust yourselves with the itinerary you suggest and end up fractious and enjoy none of the sights worthy of your time. Italy is beautiful and has a lot to offer from city to city and region to region. You would regret blasting through just for the kudos of saying, I’ve been to….
