I'm planning to fly PHL-LHR in April and just looked at flight schedules. At least going outbound, there is a BA 777 and a AA 787 leaving within 45 minutes of each other. RT fares are identical. I have flown Club World in the old 747 but not the 777. Leaning towards BA for having different service than AA (and it being a good experience) but curious as to others' thoughts.
I just went through this mental exercise and came down on the side of AA 787.
while BA service and food tends to be better, it matters a lot less on a short overnight to LHR.
there are two main reasons I’d choose AA in this situation… 787 is better than 777 - quieter, more humidity in the air, etc. Cabin temp on BA will be a couple degrees higher than AA (higher temp negatively affects my sleeping). If it matters to you, AA arrivals lounge at T3 in LHR is superior to BA arrivals lounge in T5 in my opinion.
on the way back, BA should be slightly superior due to catering/service. However, LHR T3 lounges (CX, QF) are better than T5 Galleries lounges.
