If they marketed this way and someone paid $4k a night then this is borderline fraud, no?

My wife and I agreed to not risk it after your review. It looks like I'm out 105k Hyatt points. If anyone else would like my spot. Please let me know.
I'm actually not sure that anyone pays cash for Calala. Americans use Hyatt points, and Brits have auctions/raffles where they win a stay. People claiming the "cpp value" of this place are somewhat misguided, since it seems like most, if not all, of Calala's revenue is based on reservations at a discounted price.

I know some of the other guests were bothered by the bugs. It was hit or miss whether people had reactions to them or were just annoyed by constantly having to wipe off their bedding/sinks/clothes etc. For me, they were just annoying, but my partner had welts and was itching badly. We didn't discuss the food with anyone; just tried to stay focused on the positives and getting to know them and the staff. No one was publicly complaining, though given the intimate environment, that's not very surprising.
