Would anyone recommend public transportation from long island to EWR, taking LIRR-Penn station-Newark station-Air train to the terminal? Or should I just change the flight, depart from JFK, and get done with it?
It's obviously easier (and cheaper) to get to JFK from Long Island versus getting to EWR. But what cost will you incur (if any) to change your flight from an EWR departure to a JFK departure?
Rail travel from Long Island to EWR would not be terrible: two transfers involved -- one at New York Penn, and one at EWR Rail Station -- with escalators and/or elevators (normally) available at both transfer points. If you will only have carry-on luggage, it's not particularly onerous, just a longer trip.
