I mean they have deferred it into the 2030s now is my understanding and they keep harping on fleet simplification as being a big plus of this large 787 order making for ease of equipment swaps, staffing, maintenance, facilities requirements etc. With the 100 committed 787s being enough to replace the entire 767 fleet by the end of the decade and half the 777 fleet (whole fleet if they exercise the additional 100 option with left overs for new equipment), ? some replacement of 757 with these (althought A321XLR seems more likely to be majority of 757 replacements), it seems like Airbus and the A350 isn't really in the picture for UA's widebody plans anytime in the next decade.
