Just for information....

I had a morning flight out of Dubai last week on Emirates. As anyone who has flown out in the morning will tell you, the place is a complete zoo at this time. You have to go through a security x-ray before you even reach check in, join the check-in queue, and then join the main security queue. It can take an hour to get through sometimes.

Anyway, as I was only carrying hand baggage, I thought I'd try the self service check-in booth. The security queue to get to economy check-in area was quite long, so I walked into the business check-in area. There is no need to go through the initial security checks if you are travelling in business/first, as everyone knows that terrorists never travel in business or first.

I got my boarding pass in 30 seconds, walked up to the main (and seperate from economy) security area and was through in another 30 seconds. So, from arriving at the airport, I was airside in less that 5 minutes total!

So, if you are ever travelling light, forget about the economy zoo, and head for the business/first check in area.

This trip has now made me a silver on Skywards, so I can check in at the business check-in area anyway from now on.
