A friend joined BAEC last week and transferred Avios from QR Privilege club to BAEC. Friend wanted to purchase an Avios ticket for me as unable to travel/use the Avios himself. BAEC is preferred as less Avios required than with QR Privilege club. However, unable to ticket online for others than the account holder (asked to contact BAEC for booking). No activities in the BAEC account other than the Avios transferred from QR. No HHA.
(and no, it doesn't make a difference to tick the box that credit card holder is not the passenger)

Q: How many activities in BAEC account is required to have this annoying restriction lifted? One? I guess he could purchase a cheap walking tour in Lisbon, Budapest or the like for say 500-1000 Avios in the BAEC shop:; would that lead to the restriction being lifted, or is real activities (flights) required?
