Business 101 says DL will follow the money. DL offering direct aisle access is a major plus to many premium travelers and probably a higher factor in their decision making than the soft product. It will take people voting with their wallet (and feet) and booking away from DL and forcing DL to either drop fares or improve the product to fill seats. But if DL is filling seats at the price point it wants to sell those seats at with the product its currently offering, DL doesn't need to invest more in its product to entice passengers to fly DL when they're already flying DL.


(Bold emphasis mine) - In the interest of being objective, if flying Transcon "Flagship" F or J on AA, one gets access to the Flagship F/J Lounge and the Flagship Lounges are pretty nice. I don't believe Transcon J on UA gets one access to the UA Polaris Lounges though.
