I recently bought 4 transatlantic one-way upgrades to Premium Economy for $299 each, whereas the initial purchase price showed a difference of $699. There was probably no G bucket availability at time of booking and it opened up later. Picking a random route (DTW-AMS) the nominal difference between Main Cabin and Premium Select (if there is both V bucket and G bucket open) on this route is $267 each way ($793 vs. $1327 roundtrip). You can see what happens below to fare difference when there is no A or G bucket open on a flight and only P inventory available in Premium Select in the second instance. The Z fares below aren't actually the cheapest as I would have had to select flights at least 90 days out and with a 2 week minimum stay to show those ($3932 roundtrip for a $1569 fare difference each-way over coach on this route). On a more competitive route like JFK-LHR, fare differences between coach and the cheapest D1 Z fares can be closer to the $1000 each way ball park.
