I recently had a similar situation to OP's and was able to cancel from the app at about T-15 mins. (ironically, while sitting on the runway at LAX waiting for a gate to open) under "trips" by hitting the the three dots to the right of the flight. I hadn't paid for a refundable ticket so the money just went back in wallet.
