Is it really longer than from the high-B gates in T4 to the T4 AirTrain? Isn't T4 like 1 mile long, which is 20 minutes in and of itself?
ETA: I'm approximating 3,300 ft from end of B concourse to AirTrain escalator using "Measure Distance" on Google Maps. Compared to 2,400 ft for AirTrain T5 to gate 14/15 (and 2800 to gate 30)
I believe a normal walking speed is 275 ft/min, so 12 minutes in T4 vs. 9-10 min in T5, excluding escalator/elevator time (which probably nets against any speed gains from walking on the travelators.)
But I guess it's fair to say that it's longer at T5 for the "average" passenger given the distance to TSA / from baggage that everyone has to walk.
