I stayed at Hilton Nagasaki back in October.
Nagasaki Joe has done a nice thorough review of this hotel and there really is nothing for me to add since my stay parallels the experience
Nagasaki Joe had at this hotel.
The location of this hotel is very convenient for visitors, right next to Nagasaki station at Dejima Messe convention center. Hilton Nagasaki and Dejima Messe is a brand new facility along with Nagasaki station going through complete renovation for the opening of the new West Kyushu Shinkansen, the hotel and the station look very clean and new although the east side of the station is still undergoing new construction. Few things I noticed during my stay.
Gift shop:
I did not see any gift shop at Hilton Nagasaki, although the hotel has a coffee/sweet pastry shop at the front of De Vaert restaurant for takeout. There is Family Mart convenience store open 24 hrs. at Nagasaki station right across the street from the hotel. I did not see it as an inconvenience.
Taxi:
The hotel will call a taxi if you request, and during my stay, I did not see any taxi at the front entrance of the hotel waiting to pick up people. Right across the street from the hotel at Nagasaki station taxi is readily available without waiting. It was faster to catch taxi from Nagasaki station than ask the hotel to call a taxi. Again, I did not see it as an inconvenience.
I stayed in the king premium room, a corner room.
This was the view from my room. Looking at Nagasaki Bay toward the south, and Mt. Inasa toward the west.
Evening offerings at the executive lounge were very nice. I thought more selection than Hilton Tokyo, I thought I could make a complete meal out of the evening offer at the executive lounge of Hilton Nagasaki. The executive lounge was not busy at all during my stay.
I had a breakfast buffet at De Vaert restaurant, complimentary for Diamond members. There was a large tour group during one day of my stay, the hotel was quiet and the only time I noticed was at the breakfast buffet which got very busy. The restaurant has a small section separated by the counter/cabinets which the small area operates as a Fukukairo Chinese restaurant during lunch and dinner, but during the breakfast buffet, this area is reserved for Diamond members. It was a nice quiet area separated from the busy buffet area. This Diamond member section of the breakfast buffet had self-serve complimentary sparkling water, beer, and wine. at the end, the server brought brownies, wrapped in plastic could taken back to my room.
The hotel has a fitness center and a spa which has a Japanese hot soaking public bath. The bath was open only between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. during my stay. The bath had a nice view of Mt. Inasa but the batch itself was not that large. I had a nice view of Mt. Inasa from my room. I went to the bath at the spa once and did not feel the need to go for a second time.
Hilton Nagasaki was a very nice hotel, I think it is the first non-Japanese chain hotel in Nagasaki. The room and public facilities were large for Japanese hotel standards. The hotel is still new so it was very pleasant. Nagasaki Marriott is planning to open in early 2024 right on the east side of Nagasaki station. I am sure Marriott has seen what Hilton has done at Hilton Nagasaki, and I will not be surprised to see Marriott will try a little better than Hilton Nagasaki. I hope Hilton and Marriott will be positive competitors which will benefit visitors to Nagasaki.
