None of that at all, and I've rented in Ireland, UK, Germany, France, Netherlands, and Poland. In Mexico City, I had an $18,000 (U.S., not pesos) hold on my credit card to cover the value of the whole car and the guy was so pissed it went though. Came back a month later and they no longer tried to twist arms, the car rental rate went up from $9.99 a day to $25 and the hold was $2,000 though. I don't experience that anywhere in Europe though.
