Connecting off of international at LAX / flexibility

I am coming in from London to LAX next month, connecting on to AS3322 to LAS. Couldnt book this on one PNR due to lack of Avios availability. I have a 2.5 hour connection window, and am in Club on BA, so am hoping the connection will be fine. However 2 questions for the AS/LAX regulars:

- I paid an additional sum to make the AS ticket cancellable. How late can I leave it before cancelling the ticket - is it literally any time before scheduled departure or is there a strict 30/60 minute cut off? Clearly if I have to cancel I then need a replacement ticket, and so will have to chance my arm that there seats on DL/SW - better that than waiting 6 hours for the evening AS flight.

- How is security at LAX T6 on a Friday early afternoon? Am I better walking to T6 or clearing security at T4 or 5 and using the tunnels.

Thanks in advance.
