100k miles is a good amount; enough to make me pause and consider flying through CLT. Personally, I hate CLT. It's crowded, for the longest time it only had one tiny AC (the other Admirals Club was in renovations for an eternity), and there's no flagship lounge. But a 100k mile difference is definitely something to consider, even though you're going though CLT over DFW. Yes you'll get less sleep going from CLT to CDG and that LAX-CLT flight isn't the best on a domestic recliner seat. but you weren't necessarily going to get a ton of sleep either on DFW-CDG. And you'll at least have the LAX Flagship Lounge when you first start your trip. Just my 2 cents. Others might want see things differently. Me personally? I see that 100k as a Japan Airlines first class seat from JFK-Tokyo or nearly a roundtrip in long haul business if you can snag a 57.5k rate both ways.
