If not wanting all the items of a package, then a package may well not be worthwhile - in this example, unless wanting the extra bag, it would be a waste of money to me. When wanting to check a 3rd bag in ( and there are times when I do have to travel with more luggage ) then $400 on a r/t journey would be required on an AA TATL journey for that 3rd piece. It would then mean that for $100, there is then the benefits of flagship check in , flagship dining and faster check in due to no excess bag fee to pay at the airport each way
It is really misleading where people are making out that it is $500 just to use the dining just because they may not have use for the other benefits.
Of course the percentage matters. If the number is only 10%, for example, the weighted value of the extra bag is only $40.
