A lot of people don't realize is this guy has actually worked his way up from the bottom and started his career as a pilot! His tenor at BA/IAG has lasted a total of 15 years which is certainly remarkable longevity.
Years ago he gave an open talk in the city which was about the aviation industry in general. It was very interesting and he clearly knows his stuff. Upon leaving about half a dozen people went after him trying to ask him questions about BA. He was duly answering them or taking feedback all the way down to the tube where one person even managed to jump on board with him.
I have often wondered what the true net value of loss has been to BA over the last 15 odd years with the strategy of Walsh and his cronies. Sure we have the added verbiage of I am never flying them again syndrome, the LHR monopoly etc... Personally, I put the blame down to LCC for Europe, as a result, BA is no longer the largest airline and the fact the UK is also into its 2nd recession during this time with no real strategy from a government (a bunch of con-socialists) who are clueless and sad they are on course to lose the next election to their main rivals who are weaker on all subjects.
