Between the choice of Park Hotel Vitznau or the recently opened Mandarin Oriental Lucerne, which will be a better choice? The former appears to have better views and F&B but quite remote while the latter is within Lucerne city and also have a lake view. I am leaning towards the Park Hotel Vitznau but am concerned there is nothing much to do besides just chilling and relax in the property since it's rather remote. Any inputs are appreciated.
From what I recall, it seemed like it was a thirty minute drive to Lucern from the Park Hotel. We were there in August, and the little village of Vitznau has a train that went up Mt Regis overlooking the hotel and lake. It was a worthy excursion. The Park Hotel is definitely a relaxing environment, vs the more hustle, touristic Lucern. I would spend half day(s) in Lucern, and stay and enjoy the Park Hotel. We also took a water taxis from Lucern back to the Park Hotel Vitznau. Great way to see the lake and properties.
