This was the perfect way for us to move on to Zannier Bai San Ho. There is currently no nonstop flight between the two cities. We would have had to fly via Ho Chi Minh. The elapsed time would have been as long as taking the train and the train was vastly more interesting. We used Grab, the Asian equivalent of Uber, and 1/10 the price of the hotel car, for the 30 minute trip to the Danang train station. We were asked by The Vietage team to arrive at 7:30am for our 8am ride. The skies opened as we neared the train station and I quickly put on my poncho. Once we were in the station, we found that the track was covered and we could remain dry to get onto our carriage. The Vietage team had cool drinks and cold cloths for us in the waiting room.

The private car has 6 compartments, each for 2 people, thus able to carry 12 guests. It has a bar, a room for chair massages, and a toilet. There were only 3 of us that day so we were each able to have our own compartment. We had a lot of distractions during the ride
  • morning pastries
  • beverages whenever we liked from an extensive list of alcoholic and nonalcoholic choices
  • 3 course lunch, chosen in advance
  • 20 minute chair massage
  • ice cream
  • farewell gift of a chocolate train in a cute little wood box
  • slippers, eyeshields, neck pillow, pillow and blanket were available for use
  • wifi
It was interesting to ride thru the countryside. What struck me was the number of tombs we saw, sometimes literally in people's yards. We saw small towns, paddy fields, and a range of animals. We arrived in Quy Nhon at 2:30. Our driver was waiting to take us the one hour on to Zannier Bai San Ho.
We are doing the exact same itinerary next week. Would love to get your take on Zannier.
