In a few weeks I'll be flying at the same time as a friend and we'll be going to the airport together, but they'll be flying on Delta and I'll be on United. I purchased a yearly United Club Membership, which I've successfully used several times, which I see allows for up to 2 guests. Will I be able to bring my friend with me to the lounge as a guest? Is this officially sanctioned, or will they not really ask to check their boarding pass and its more of a 'shut your mouth and pretend we're flying together' situation. Assuming they let us into the lounge, my friend's flight leaves about an hour after mine. If I leave before they do, and the front desk staff notices this, is it possible they'll be asked to leave?

My instinct tells me it's fine but I'd hate to create an awkward situation at the lounge and dash our hopes of relaxing in comfort for a bit.
