Airside is by bus, landside is Elizabeth Line (and other options) but that landside route definitely won't work since you won't have a T3 Boarding Pass. If you go via the airside bus you pass through security both at T3 and again at T5. Given the workforce shortages, it's not something I can recommend. Here is one of the many threads on this issue.
Thank you for the clarification and link! Yeah I just read about the strike and also just realised from ur post that there will be transfer security checks both ways so im guessing i will incur at least 2 hours both ways? Which is almost half of my layover. We will have access to the BA lounges as we are travelling Club World but really wanted to try out Centurion and shower facilities 😞

I'm assuming exiting airside and hopping ard London before coming back for our flight is prob not recommended as well? Given the strikes, it will take too long to clear airport security to get back in?

trying to figure out the best options to pass time esp for our 2 pre-teens with us haha...need to recalibrate what is worth our while without too much stress on New year's eve 🙃
