There was a 2+ hour wait at the T3 lounge on Monday - apparently happens frequently enough there's now even a sign outside advertising a 90 minute wait. My guess is this is what happens when transfer companies insist on dropping people off at the airport way, way earlier than they need to be there.

There were 70 people in my group leaving over 3 days, the company wanted to pick people up from Playa Mujeres 5 hours before their departure, but I insisted we cut it down to 3.5 hours which they did despite "we strongly recommend you stick with 5 as some people will likely miss flights". Nobody missed their flight, and everyone I talked to after their flights was waiting a good amount of time in the departure area before boarding started even with some decent construction traffic for some, and 1 transfer that showed up 15 minutes late.

I think it started due to the combination of airline meltdowns + sudden airport road construction in August, but the transfer companies have refused to reduce it even though both delay issues have been greatly mitigated the past couple months.
