Maybe. But if someone is forced to fly a lot on WS anyway, to the extent that they may struggle to maintain status on AC, then at some point they will simply stick with WS/DL for everything. I've heard the stories about WS catering inconsistencies, but don't think those involve transcon flights.
Not everyone will switch, and for sure WS is losing loyal flyers in the east. But AC used to be the airline for business travellers everywhere in Canada, and that likely drove at least some of the business on their most profitable routes. The big question is: how much?
