Stayed at the Ibis Styles Kyoto Shijo Hotel for 2 nights in November. We only paid €30 or so per night and I can fully recommend it for that price tag. When we booked it, there weren't even images of the room online, so I guess that it didn't exist for too long.

Room was small, but cozy with everything you might need, including a mini fridge. The lobby area is beautiful and very inviting. As an Accor Gold member, I received:
* small welcome gift (some Japanese cake)
* upgrade to 10th (= highest) floor
* free welcome drink, aka a soft drink in a can
* late check-out (I believe until 2 pm, but forgot the exact time)

While there are no upgraded rooms, the 10th floor has a small lounge area that we enjoyed. There's no door to it and no snacks, whatsoever. But it's a relaxing place to eat and work a bit, like a second lobby.

Looks like hotel prices in Kyoto are very dynamic. When I booked it for November, it was €30, it went up til €90 in between and now in December it's back to the €30 range.
