I recently travel YYZ - ATL round trip. On my return trip, I was pleasantly surprised that ATL security check no longer required passengers to take out their laptop as well as liquid. The TSA staff kept telling ppl "leave everything inside your bag", I wasn't aware at first and was continuing my process of taking laptop and ziplock bag (containing all my liquid) out the bag, until he pointed at me to leave everything inside.
Gotta say this was a pleasant surprise! I wonder if this is a normal for all US airport nowadays? I mostly travel within Canada so...
Unless it’s a very recent change, I don’t think so. On my most recent three trips (Sep, Oct, Nov), at all the US airports I went through, TSA still required laptops and liquids separated out.
