Mrs. ND76 and I sat in row 20 today LHR-JFK. We asked our FA about this issue, and she told us "officially, you have to use the rear lavs", but since carts blocked the aisles and the curtain between us and the lavatory at the rear right of D1 was open, there was no objection to us using that lav.
