North America to AU/NZ is a very premium market, especially up front. These flights can consistently command very high fares in both directions, so it's not a surprise that award space is virtually non-existent. This is compounded by the fact that you're starting your journey in YYZ and have multiple travellers.

You'll have better luck looking for routings through Asia. Not exactly awards galore, but they do exist.
