Interested in opinions on this scenario, which recently occurred.
I am based in Australia and called a restaurant in the US for a booking in a month's time. We have a party of 10 (5 in my family and 5 in my brother's family). The restaurant said they only had a table of 5 so I took that and booked it under my name and asked to waitlist for the other table.
I then called Amex Concierge to see if we could get the table. They were able to get another table of 5. Once I told the Amex concierge that the restaurant already had my card details from the other booking they become uncomfortable and said it could impact their relationship with the restaurant that we had another table. I said I had made the first table reservation through public means for my brother and his family and the table Amex booked was for me and my family (my partner and I are both Amex Platinum card holders). To me this seemed very fair and reasonable.
In the end Amex booked it for us but now I just feel bad about the whole thing.
