I don't think J looks very promising. O is overbooked by 2, and a 1K on a Y fare would be #9 on the J list at the moment, for 12 seats.
I'd probably take the O upgrade now and keep the waitlist for J. Otherwise there's a good chance you'll be flying Y.
I canceled the waitlist in the hopes of seeing PZ availability before departure so I can upgrade manually (done it a few times). You cannot upgrade manually while on the waitlist.
The issue with taking the O upgrade is that no seats are currently available and O is overbooked by 2 or 3 now. I’d prefer my exit row window seat over being stuck between two strangers in O. Available J seats down to 8 meanwhile.
