Inaugural flight of AC 66, BKK–YVR

I'm currently on the inaugural flight of AC 66, flying Bangkok to Vancouver. The AC check-in desks were located in the T aisle. Several members of the training staff were on site to observe and assist.

While I was waiting in the priority check-in line to drop off a bag, an absolutely irate passenger came in demanding to know why he couldn't go through BKK's priority departure area despite the boarding pass having "Prio Security" on it. No amount of explanation by 4 different staff members that it was meant for Canadian airports satisfied the guy. He very loudly belittled the staff and airline, and said he would be complaining to the president. Other than that drama, check-in was smooth while I was there.

At the departure gate, agents gave out cookies and orange juice, and there was a polar bear (costume, not real) around for pictures.

The bear came on board before departure to wish everyone a good flight. A large half-eaten cake was carried out before the cabin door closed. Not sure where it was served.

It's nice to have Bangkok as an option, even if only seasonal. I'd love it if AC added Singapore in the future!

Edit: I went to the Thai Royal Orchid Lounge across from Gate D4 before the flight. It’s a big beautiful lounge with plenty of food and drinks. But, it was a good 10 minute trek to gate G5 for the flight.
