Here it comes the answer from nwa.com support
I just called the nwa.com support (1-800-692-6955) asking why I could not check in online. The person on the other side of the line told me that it might be reason that I was upgraded so the ticket has to be reissued; he told me that I could use a airport kiosk to check in but not online. I also asked if elite members are upgraded, they won't be able to check in online; he said it depends on whether the ticket has to be reissued or not. Interesting!
I have never heard about the reissue thing due to EUA. Do other NW FTers have the same difference?
