Fairmont Hotel (USA) Doctor- issues with new prescription
A few weeks ago, my prescription on one medication ran out while I was at the Fairmont Orchid.
So through hotel, I spoke to the doctor. She sent in the prescription.
She charged me the $35 telephone consultation fee. No issue so far.
But when I asked for a receipt (so I can submit a claim to my travel insurance for reimbursement) in Canada- she said she could not do it.
She said that I would have to pay the pharmacy this fee in cash- and I would get no receipt. That is what I did.
She said that if I wanted a receipt for a consultation, she could arrange to see me- but would then charge me $250!
OF NOTE- a few years ago- I was staying at the Fairmont in Scottsdale AZ. Needed a medicationr refill- that physician through Fairmont did not charge for a telephone consultation fee.
I am not sure if the differences in 2 experiences are due to different contracts between the MD and the different Fairmonts.
It is possible that myself as a physician- I got a physician courtesy waiver of the consultation fee the first time.
I am not complaining of the telephone consultation fee this second time; I am complaining that she would not give me a receipt.
What do you think? Are there rules for Fairmont hotels in USA about telephone consultation fees with doctors- whether they charge or not charge the fees, and if they charge the fees, whether they do or do not give a receipt?
