My wife and I are flying BOS-SEA 10 days from now. We both used RUCs to upgrade to FC but only 7/20 FC seats have been taken as of today. Since we are both Platinum (via rollover), I think it's likely we would be upgraded without using RUCs. Is there a way to retain the RUC and instead be upgraded using a standard medallion complementary upgrade if we would indeed be upgraded via the complementary route but retain the ability to be upgraded with RUCs if we would not receive complementary upgrades? I think I've read elsewhere on FT (can't find the thread now) that agents don't always/actually pull the RUC (ours still show up as unused) until boarding time so that you can be upgraded without having to use the RUC if you'd be upgraded by the complementary route. Is this correct and will we appear in the upgrade list showing where we stand without the RUC but still able to use the RUC if needed?
