Until I see an email from Capital One announcing the change, I’ll assume that this is a test balloon.
Fundamentally Capital One has a tiny proprietary network, and a largely US-based customer group. Priority Pass remains a marginal player in the US without lounges in major airports like ORD, LAX, LGA, DCA, and PHX unless you count “experiences.”
Reducing the experiences credit fundamental undermines the value proposition unless CapitalOne can improbably partner with a major US airline to offer lounge access while flying that airline. Maybe AA? DL is closely partnered with Amex and UA Chase.
