I hate taking redeyes for work. I lean more toward morning flight out, arriving in the late afternoon/early evening, and then evening return flight the next day. AS did that pretty well for me LAX-BOS pre-apocalypse, and the return flight was even late enough most of the time that I could get full day an hour west of Boston and still make the flight without too much stress.
