If it can take several months for the hotel to withdraw the certificate, that certificate could expire. And if you renew your Ambassador membership, the hotel may end up withdrawing your new certificate???!!!
If it hasn't been taken a month after the stay I would contact the Ambassador people to get it done, so you don't and up in the above scenario.
