As far as I know XP get added around the day of acceptance, so that should work within december.
Just to manage expectations: the XP will not be added around the day of acceptance. It will take a couple of weeks. If you're applying before December 15th, your 30 XP are most likely to post before December 31st. And indeed, you can keep the card for a couple of months for EUR 8.50 / month and cancel afterwards, no need to keep the card for a full year.

I have 2 recent data points for the Dutch Flying Blue Gold Amex:
-Card requested one week ago on Monday, accepted one day later, physical card received two days ago. Currently 10 days after approval, no XP yet.
-Card requested this week on Monday, accepted yesterday. Waiting for card and XP.

Will keep you posted on when the XP arrive.
