One of the listed benefits that I (and others) value the most is access to upgrades pretty far in advance.
I was #1 on the list with 1 seat open for the past 2 days (with 2 days prior being considered "eligible" to upgrade) and overnight someone booked the 1 F seat.
I'm tired of waiting until T-24 or later to hope that there are any seats left. I understand that they want to sell more but there has to be a balance?
I too, hope someone will mention this - it's frustrating when they don't start processing upgrades until days after the window opens. Most of my upgrades lately haven't happened until after check-in, even if I'm at the top of the list. As you mentioned, this opens up the possibility that someone will buy the seat or swoop in with a GGU on an eligible flight before you've been upgraded. Also, it leaves a much shorter window to choose a meal if applicable.
