...so are you saying that if i monitor availability and call in they will over ride the automatic? granted i've had certificate/pointsplus upgrades waitlist then awarded weeks (2-6) before a flight
Prior to the CPU process, if
PN for an 1K YBM fare / CPU appears, it will not clear but you should be able to request on the website
Once inside the CPU, an 1K on YBM fare can clear at a higher priority as part of the CPU. However clearing that far out is rare
also i thought a gold Y B upgrade supercedes a GS pointsplus/certificate upgrade?
Not a chance, All forms of GS request are handle before no-GS (possible exception is 1K on YBM fare and that might beat a GS CPU)
Also a Gold can only clear at booking, not waitlisting
