I just returned from 4 nights here, redeeming IHG points. Like most Intercontinental properties, its a great 4 star hotel. Its a beautiful & historic property, and location is one of my favorites in Paris. Hotel staff were super friendly, and service was generally great. Bellmen were almost always there to hold the door and welcome guests. The lobby is beautiful and reminded me of the Plaza's Palm Court in Manhattan. I arrived around check out and the front desk at several people in line, with every staff member busy. There was no priority line for elites. At check in, I was given a letter acknowledging my platinum status, but curiously mentioned nothing about the breakfast benefit. I asked about it, and they said that platinum members can choose breakfast as an amenity, but because it was a new offer, they didn't update the letter. Fore what its worth, I got the 600 bonus point welcome amenity despite selecting breakfast. The room was not ready, which was fine with me, but they took my bags & said they would deliver them to my room. I was informed I got an upgrade to a larger room with a balcony. I got a mid afternoon call notifying me the room was ready & that the luggage was delivered. I came back in the evening and found the room to be quite lovely, Will note that the hallways were a bit confusing to navigate. The balcony was more of a large ledge that wasn't even big enough for furniture or really worth even going on. The bathroom was at the from of the room with a nice window overlooking the rue de scribe, with amenities in pump bottles from Byredo. Surprisingly, all of them seemed like they had been filled. I have previously found empty pump bottles at IHG, so was great to see. Room had a Nespresso machine as well as a kettle, and a mini bar under the TV. There was a nice closet just off the entrance to the room, but otherwise, not much storage in the room. Wifi was free, and worked most of the time, but definitely not the best hotel wifi I have had.

There were no accessible outlets by the desk, and no USB ports either. If you want to plug in a phone or computer, you had to unplug the Nespresso or phone. The beds also did not have any outlets easily accessible and also had no USB ports.

Room was serviced daily, which is also no longer a given, even at luxury hotels. There was also evening turn down, but I am not sure if that was standard or a function of my status. But I found that getting the 2 daily bottles of water was inconsistent. 1 day they forgot it entirely and delivered them at turn down after I flagged to front desk. Another day, they came several hours after the room was serviced. 1 day I also got a large glass Evian bottle instead of 2 bottles of water.

I wanted to store some of my own food, and they would not empty the mini bar, or deliver a fridge to the room. But they were happy to take food & store in the hotel fridge.

Breakfast at the famous Cafe de la Paid was very underwhelming. While the service was great, and the buffet had a decent spread, none of. it was particularly good. The coffee was bitter, the juice was very sour. The fruit was also very sour. Some of the hot stuff was cold. Probably the best thing was the croissants. If you have breakfast included from status, go in for croissants and maybe coffee, but I would strongly recommend not paying the 45 euro retail price for that buffet.

Overall, its a great property and a great use of my points. The cash rates here seem like they could be pretty high, but given the market for 4 star hotels in Paris, especially given the prime location, I dont think they are that out of line.
