Pre-COVID I would agree -- but since then JAL rules have been a bit messy (my wife flies them a lot - but I don't) -- if you don't want to claim your bags at NRT and then recheck them the next day just tell them at check-in -- it shouldn't be an issue -- but COVID has changed a lot of things so don't be surprised if you have to store the bags at NRT or take them to the hotel....
