We (my wife and I) were there in May, 2022.We were first off the aircraft and tried to use the Business class immigration counters on the left as we have always done. We were directed to the right to this suffocating location teeming with a few hundred non-Indian passport holders. Even though the lines on the other side were empty, it took us over 90 minutes to get thru. You are correct about the terrible 'finger printing' devices. After several tries, the immigration official simply turned it off after cursing them. I do not ever plan to transit thru DEL unless they change the process.
