When a very similar thing happened to my wife and myself back in December 2020, we both received what we thought was quite a generous number of Skywards miles (worth significantly more than what the EC 261 (is that the correct number?) compensation would have been had it been applicable). Plus of course a hotel and all meals. For what it is worth we were in J, one of us Gold and the other Silver. We both got the same number of miles (without hoeing to ask for them, we just got an email with lots of apologies and the miles were in our respective accounts).
