I gave up and filed a claim with AC later. I was able to show my *Gold status to access the lounge and to board in Zone 2, but I suspect this would be a bigger problem if I had to check bags.

Since at least mid-September, UA doesn’t seem able to validate against the Star Alliance database (some) last names that have a hyphen or a space. It seems to only be an issue with AC frequent flyers. (UA can recognize my LH FF# which confuses AC, as they use the same system and encode the name the same way.)
UA tried all possible combinations on my name; without success (including at the airport… reissuing my ticket under different names). A servicenow ticket is opened with AC IT, and with the Star Alliance team. AC already sent me some compensation but can’t seem to find a way to fix the issue. Apparently, this was added to a long list of IT issues they have with United at the moment.
Issue arise on 014 and 016 tickets.
Exact issue I have here. Interestingly, as of Friday last week, I notice that my Aeroplan account no longer has a hyphen in between my last name even though I never requested the change.
Maybe this could be somewhat related?
