I'm arriving in to T3 on BA924 (NUE-LHR) on Thursday, arriving 13:35, and have a flight on a separate ticket booked to EDI leaving T5 at 15:20. I'm a victim of my own incompetance as I didn't realise the inbound was T3 until I headed to the airport to fly to NUE yesterday <facepalm>
I've found the quickest route recently (after a couple of tries) when coming into T3 and connecting to domestic out of T5 to be....

Follow Airside transfer T3 to T5 on the bus, however on getting to T5, exit via immigration and then come back in through first wing. Immigration on the transfer route has been OK but then security was a disaster last time I tried the full airside route.........I guess mileage varies depending on day/time etc.
