I just noticed that one of your flights is BOS-BCN. That is a LEVEL flight and definitely no Oneworld benefits at all... So Basic Economy --> no free seat selection for sure.

MAD-ORD is Iberia mainline. The Iberia website is definitely not clear about Plata (Oneworld Ruby) seat selection benefits. But IIRC from my wife's travels on her own on IB as a AA Gold, she cannot choose her seat at booking either.
